Hi! I’m so glad you’re here.

I’m Catherine, the founder of butter & bloom.

I love to create magic in the little things: seasonal decor to add touches of joy to your home year-round, and help make every day better instead of blending together. Transforming tablescapes that turn a simple dinner hangout with friends into a gathering that feels special; bespoke treats that take hours to make and seconds to eat, but are totally worth it. They say that “it’s the thought that counts.” That’s not an insult, it’s a compliment!

To me, the world has been feeling like a pretty dark place. I won’t even watch crime procedurals on TV, because there’s already enough unavoidable bad news out there (but I won’t judge if binging SVU is your jam). My mission is to find every opportunity to add joy to the lives of those around me, from the most everyday occurrences to special occasions and everything in between. A friend once called me a “local Martha Stewart,” and I assume that was because of my passion and ability to make things beautiful, and not my unlikely friendship with Snoop Dogg.

I live in South Orange, NJ with my amazingly supportive husband, two precocious (and extremely chatty) young daughters, and an incredibly cute Havapoo puppy named Rusty. While butter & bloom was born here in 2026, all the many different hats I’ve worn throughout my life have led me here.

Some of those fancy and fabulous hats:

  • TONY-winning Producer. I was born a theater kid, loved performing, and produced multiple TONY-nominated Broadway shows. Through this, I learned the art of creating things for people to enjoy that they may not otherwise partake in, and how a little showmanship can go a long way. Plus, I was able to live my dream of working with some of my heroes like Mandy Patinkin and Bernadette Peters.

  • Partnerships Director. I love connecting people and creating win-win situations. Supposedly “you can’t make everyone happy,” but while working in partnerships, I found that sometimes you actually can!

  • Marketing Director. I spent years working at non-profits, and honed my skills in visual storytelling and caring about nitty gritty itsy bitsy teeny tiny details.

  • Consultant. I’ve consulted on video shoots, styled events, and even had a brief stint as “the Fairy Giftmother” wherein I helped people find the absolutely perfect gifts for their loved ones. Sometimes people know roughly where they want to go, but have no idea how to get there, and I’m always happy to steer. (Unsurprisingly, I am the primary driver when our family travels).

  • Baker. In my early 20s, cakeballs were a specialty of mine, and I briefly caved in to friends who begged me to sell them as an actual business.

  • Gardener, Woodworker, Flower Arranger, Cheese Board Virtuoso, House Painter, Brick Stripper, and more. I have a DIY attitude to most things in life, but don’t ask me to get rid of any pests.

For years, I felt like all of these experiences were mostly disconnected and reflected where I was at those moments, but eventually I realized that all these pieces fit perfectly together, and butter & bloom was the puzzle I’d been working towards. (Another shockingly unexpected fact that you would never guess from the rest of this intro: I love puzzling)

Come along with me as I create magic in the little things. It’s going to be beautiful, delicious, and memorable.

Just don’t invite me to your Criminal Minds marathon… Unless Snoop Dogg is going to be there.

xo,
Catherine
