make this your most intentional summer yet

Every season has a special place in my heart, and a different reason why it's my favorite for hosting and creating special moments with the people I love. Summer's reason is simple: the long days, the warm air, and the feeling that time has slowed down just enough to actually enjoy it.

Summer is different from the other seasons. The chaos of the school year fades, and something quieter takes its place. BBQs with neighbors, family visiting from out of town, hours at the community pool, kids catching fireflies, evening drinks on the patio, vegetables and flowers coming in from the garden, fireworks with strangers, picnics in the park. These are moments that can become memories, if we let them.

so, where do you start?

My challenge to you is to make this the most memorable and intentional summer yet. Here are four things you can do right now:

  • Text a friend today and invite them over for a BBQ before July 4th. Don't wait for a plan to come together on its own.

  • Get a picnic blanket big enough for everyone. This is the one I own and use constantly and it's perfect.

  • Pick a day to play hooky and take a day trip to the beach with your kids.

  • Go catch some fireflies. You are never too old.

Summer flies by every single year, but this one doesn't have to. Start with one small thing this week, and let it lead to the next.
